Blue drawers, also known as duckunoo, is a one-of-a-kind treat. Brought from Africa to the region by African slaves, from a very early age it became an essential dish in every Jamaican household, where it was enjoyed like a dessert but also like a meal or part of a meal.

The delicious content of this treat is made with cornmeal, sweet potatoes, flour, spices, and flavorings. Everything is mixed together inside a banana leaf that is tied with twine and boiled afterward.

Since the exterior appearance resembles a little present, we like to see it as a gift of our rich and colorful traditions.
